Our Commitment to Local Beef

Have you ever wondered where the meat you're eating comes from? In the US, four major producers supply 85% of the country's meat. We aim to change that by providing our community with locally sourced beef from Big Canyon Beef, raised right here in Peck, Idaho.

Cows and calves graze on grass and alfalfa hay in the winter, thriving in steep, rocky, grass-filled canyons during the spring and summer months. Calves are born in lower elevations near the river during the colder months and gradually move to higher elevations as summer progresses. This elevation change to cooler weather during the summer helps reduce the stress that warm weather can cause for both calves and cows. Once our calves reach about 800 pounds and are fully weaned, they begin to receive small amounts of barley daily, in addition to hay. This method enhances the flavor and texture of the meat.

We process all of our beef in house at our own butcher shop, ensuring quality for all of our different cuts. We are committed to producing fresh beef with no preservatives straight to your dinner table. By prioritizing local food sourcing, we can strengthen our local economy and ensure that money stays within our community rather than going to a major producer. This initiative supports local farmers and businesses while fostering a more sustainable and resilient local food system.
